What do The Dude and dads around the world have in common?
They abide. No matter what, they keep abiding. Not in some grand, heroic, blockbuster kind of way - but in the real, everyday sense. They show up. They stay steady. They roll with the punches, the tantrums, the 2 a.m. wake-ups, the spilled cereal, the missed trains, and the endless questions that start with “why.”
They don’t always have the answers, and they don’t always have the energy - but they keep going. With patience when they can, humor when they need it, and coffee when all else fails.
Like the Dude, dads don’t fight the chaos - they flow with it.They find grace in the mess, calm in the storm, and sometimes, even a bit of joy in the absurdity of it all.
No matter what, they keep abiding.Because that’s what dads do. And hey - the rug might not always tie the room together, but the dad sure does.
Coming up with a name for a new product? Way harder than it sounds. Giving name to things is hard. Giving name to things is important. A name is more than a word - it’s a promise. I went through dozens of ideas - scribbled on napkins, notes, and way too many half-used notebooks. The search followed me everywhere for weeks: on the train to the office, during meetings, in the supermarket, in those drifting moments before sleep.
And then, one day, The Dad Journal appeared. And I just knew. That was it. The name that finally felt like home.
Slogan followed shortly after.
I watch a lot of movies - like, a lot.The good ones don’t just end when the credits roll - they hang around in your head, waiting for the right moment to sneak back in.
That moment came while I was once again scribbling through options for a good slogan.
Then, almost like a Jesus himself, The Dude appeared. Not literally, but close enough, hey.
And it’s like he looked at me and said:"I’m the Dude. I abide. You’re a dad. You abide too.So take the slogan... and chill."
And I did.
