It's summer in Amsterdam - sun out, sleeves up, and we made the most of it last Sunday. Spent the whole day at the beach, sand in every possible place.

But then came the evening plot twist.

We got home, and Alan straight-up refused to go inside. Full stand-off mode at the front porch. “Papa,” he says, “spiders! They’re everywhere! You have to get rid of them!”

I tried the reasonable route: “Alan, come on. Spiders don’t want to mess with us. They’re tiny, they just hang out in corners and mind their own business. They won’t bite.”

Without missing a beat, he hits me with: “Yeah? Try telling that to Spider-Man.”

And just like that, checkmate. What can you say to that? The kid is right. A radioactive spider did bite Peter Parker and, well… the aftermath was not uneventful.

These little moments - they pile up. Some I’ve written down. Most, I’ll admit, slipped through the cracks.

“Scratch your own itch.” - these startup bros say. So I did. I built a place to collect these moments, so I don’t lose them. So I can look back one day and remember the kid who was afraid of spiders but had a superhero comeback ready.

That’s why I made The Dad Journal. For moments just like this. Not the big milestones. The small, weird, funny ones that sneak up on you and stick around.

Because one day, I’ll want to remember it all - the sand, the sun, and the spider standoff at the porch.
